VA Child Support App for Android Updated
As we told you in our post Android Virginia Child Support Calculator Now Available! last November, we created an application for your Android phone/tablet to allow you to do offline (no Internet access) Virginia child support guideline calculations based on the new guidelines put in place in July of 2014. We’re pleased to report that today we uploaded a new version of the Android Child Support app to the Google Play Store. Besides fixing some minor bugs, we’ve also added the ability to email a PDF version of your results to you, a client, or anywhere else you’d like. For more information on how the application works, see the Android post . You can get the application here:
Apple App On Its Way!
In the meantime, we’ve been hard at work developing an Apple version of the application. Depending on how wonderful you think the Apple store environment is, you’ll be pleased to hear (or not) that Apple is putting the application through more testing primarily for visual “look-and-feel” than Google does. As a result, we first submitted an Apple version in early December. It was rejected due to “look-and-feel” issues. We resubmitted once in late December (rejected!) and again today (fingers crossed). Fortunately, we’ve used the extra time to add features to the Apple version so that it has the same functionality as the Android version. When it first comes out, it will be available for iPhones (and iTouches). Once that’s approved, the iPad is next. We’ll let you know when it’s approved.
Our first project for VaSupportCalc (www.VaSupportCalc.com) was the Child Support Guideline calculators available online at no cost (donations appreciated!). We’re continually making enhancements to that website based on your feedback. Most recently, we modified the “sole” calculator so that it automatically subtracts the medical insurance paid by the “non-custodial” parent. In addition, rather than $0 being the correct answer if a non-custodial parent’s income is “too low,” the minimum statutory amount of support is shown. Please let us know if there are any enhancements or improvements you’d like to see.
